Green Deal & Digital Transformation

The European Commission prioritizes the Green Deal and digital transformation through initiatives like PMC FSCC, aligning with Paris Climate Change Conference commitments and addressing food security challenges in the ASEAN market.

Food Security & Climate Change Focus

PMC FSCC provides learner-centered, short-term micro-credentials aimed at tackling food security and climate change, using digital technologies to offer online modules on these critical issues

Flexibility for Upskilling & Reskilling

The micro-credential approach is flexible, allowing individuals not enrolled in university to upskill or reskill, addressing the labor market demands and specific skill shortages.

Stackable Credentials for Formal Programs

Micro-credentials from PMC FSCC can be stacked and credited towards formal programs, creating a pathway for further academic advancement while addressing immediate labor market needs.

About the PMC FSCC

The European Commission is continuously addressing priorities on Green Deal and digital transformation through various approaches, one of which is through the Postgraduate Micro-credentials for Food Security and Climate Change (PMFSCC). This is also linked with the commitment of member countries during the Paris Conference on Climate Change, and the challenges of food security for the implementation of the ASEAN integrated market as an educational response to the 4th Industrial Revolution.

PMFSCC aims to deliver learner-centered short-term courses, through micro-credentials to address food security and climate change concerns. It intends to utilize advances in digital technologies to develop and offer online modules that will address the twin issues of food security and climate. The flexible approach of micro-credentials will enable an individual, who may not be enrolled in the university but would want to upskill or reskill, to meet the demands of the labor market and respond to specific skill shortages. These micro-credentials may also be stacked for crediting towards a formal program.

Goals

PMC FSCC would lead to increased capacities of higher education institutions involved in the project in meeting the challenges of food security and climate change to adapt and address food security and climate change issues.

Offering

Micro-credentials will be offered initially in March 2025. The next cycle of offering will be in August 2025.
